PHOTO: THE DETROIT BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT HITS HAMTRAMCK

May 8, 2012

Several internationally known artists have visited the Motor City in support of The Detroit Beautification Project. I cruised Hamtramck today and found a few incredible pieces including Sever’s “Death of Street Art” which has been making waves on the WWW as well as a massive collaborative mural at a school soccer field in Hamtramck. This is just a small section of the huge art effort which has invaded Detroit and its surrounding areas. So rad, right?

Curious about the project? I pulled this excerpt from 12ozPROPHET:
“REVOK, Montana Cans, The Seventh Letter and 1xRUN present: The Detroit Beautification Project — As the chill of winter has given way to the warm hues of spring here in Detroit, we’re excited to unveil our most recent public arts project that will bring over a dozen of the world’s premier graffiti artists into the city for a series of murals in the neighborhoods that need them the most. To coincide with the first phase of the project we’re excited to release a series of prints with several of the participating artists including RISK, SEVER, STEEL, REYES, DMOTE, WANE, CES, REVOK, Tristan Eaton, Dabs Myla, 123 Klan and POSE.”
