After graduating from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in public relations and journalism, writer/stylist Angela Wisniewski planned on leaving the Motor City to pursue whatever it was that may have drawn her to either coast. After WDIV-Local 4 (a Detroit-based Post-Newsweek station) offered Angela her very own style and culture website, life didn’t seem too bad. On the site she offered her personal perspective (heavily fashion-influenced) on Detroit and its suburbs including things to do, street style shots, places to shop from the obscure vintage boutiques to the high-end luxury spots, and video interviews with artists, musicians and the like including Tim Gunn, Blanche, Mayer Hawthorne, Mike Posner, The Virgins and more.
Since covering the entertainment scene as an intern for popular alternative magazine Real Detroit Weekly in college, Angela has had her (typically sky high) heel on the beat of what’s going on. After leaving WDIV-Local 4 in 2009, she took over as editor of Real Detroit Weekly until Fall 2010.
Considering herself a self-appointed ambassador for the city (complete with a brown-haired cameo in a Pure Michigan commercial and radio spot), Angela is currently exploring the freelance life, specializing in fashion features, wardrobe styling and social media management.
When she’s not scouring the area for interesting products, shoes and useless tchotchkes, she can be found sipping fine whiskey and playing hide and seek with her beloved cat, Lil’ Scrappy.
